2023 BMW X5 hybrid price

What's New

BMW hasn’t made any changes to the 2023 X5 for the new model year. The X5 continues to be a versatile option with multiple powertrains, high-tech features, an upscale interior, athletic handling, and three rows of available seating. Consumers also have a wide range of available packages to choose from to create the perfect X5.

Choosing Your BMW X5

The X5 lineup is organized into three major categories: core, electrified, and M. The core range includes the sDrive40i and xDrive40i. These SUVs range from $62,595 (with destination) to $64,895. The plug-in hybrid xDrive45e costs $66,695. Then, there are the M-badged models that include the M50i and X5 M. These SUVs range from $86,395 to $109,795.

Pricing has gone up substantially compared to last year.

Engine Choices

There are four different engines to choose from with the X5. The higher up the lineup you go, the more power you get. Only the standard turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine is available with rear-wheel drive, as every other engine is paired with an all-wheel-drive system. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard throughout the lineup.

With supercar power, the X5 M is an absolute rocket. The available Competition Package brings an extra 17 hp. We suspect 600 hp is far too much for the average driver. The base engine offers plenty of pep and the fact that AWD models have the same combined fuel economy rating as RWD models makes it an easy upgrade to recommend.

While the PHEV model loses some fuel economy to the base model, it can travel up to 31 miles on electricity, while bringing a noteworthy increase in performance. It’s as high as we recommend going for the majority of consumers.

Engine Type Horsepower Torque Fuel Economy (Combined)
3.0L Turbo 335 hp 330 lb-ft

23 mpg (RWD)

23 mpg (AWD)

3.0L Turbo PHEV 389 hp 443 lb-ft 50 MPGe/20 MPG
4.4L V8 Turbo 523 hp 553 lb-ft 18 mpg
4.4L V8 M Turbo 600/617 hp 553 lb-ft 15 mpg

Passenger and Cargo Capacity

The X5 offers seating for up to five people as standard, but BMW offers an optional third row that increases seating capacity to up to seven people. Cargo capacity for the X5 measures in at 33.9 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and a total of 72.3 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats folded.

Safety Features

Every X5 trim comes with BMW’s Active Driving Assistant as standard. The suite includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, and traffic sign recognition. Other standard features include parking sensors, automatic high-beam assist, and an Active Protection System that prepares the vehicle for an accident.

The $800 Parking Assistance package brings a drive recorder, parking assist, and a surround-view camera.
