The world's top airlines 2023! At the just-concluded Paris Airshow this week, airline ranking company Skytrax revealed the world's top 10 and 100 airlines in service quality. The fight for the top is always fiercely competitive since aviation represents each nation's civilization and economic development. Singapore Airlines distinguished itself this year by reclaiming the No. 1 spot after losing it to Qatar Airways for the previous four years (from 2019 to 2022). To win that position back, Singapore Airlines has undergone drastic internal restructuring, such as converting most of the fleet to wide-body aircraft and boosting customer experience (for the Vietnamese market, free wifi for all passengers and improved inflight meals, for example). It deserves to be ranked first, and it is. Among the top 10, the impressive comebacks of Cathay Pacific of Hong Kong at No. 8 (from 16 in 2022) and Eva Air of Taiwan at No. 9 (from 18 in 2022) stand out. The most regrettable situation is the downgrade of well-known names such as Australia's Qantas from No. 5 in 2022 to No. 17 or British Airways from No. 11 to 18. The fact that long-standing airline Lufthansa dropped from No. 15 out of the top 20 to No. 21 saddens me the most. In this year's top 20, Fiji Airways has made the most significant advancement, rising spectacularly from No. 36 to No. 15 (I will definitely try Fiji for my next trip). These changes show that opportunities are open to anyone who strives to stay updated and catch up with emerging trends. Taiwan's Starlux Airlines, which rose from No. 103 to No. 39 in the top 100 rankings, deserves special note. In terms of age and fleet size, this airline's business strategy and objectives are comparable to those of Bamboo Airways in its early days. Starlux was only established in 2018, yet despite this, it has already offered customers first-class, business, premium economy, and economy-class services on par with other reputable 5-star airlines. Another notable spotlight is Kuwait Airways' rise from 76 to 42 due to the change in their flight attendant uniforms to the ones designed by Italian designer Mr. Ettore Billota. This demonstrates how crucial the appearance of flight attendants is to airlines. The only airline from Vietnam listed in the top 100 is Vietnam Airlines, which moved up from No. 48 to No. 44. Personally, I think it is well-deserved because, during my flights with VNA this year, I noticed that the airline had incorporated and improved several new features and services. Bamboo Airways had a 5-star project in the past. With the recent addition of Japanese professionals to the Board of Directors, I'm hopeful that Bamboo will make it to the top 100 next year. I can't wait for the day when a five-star airline from Vietnam ranks among the top 10 or 20 in the world. We are confident to help any airlines improve their services n systems to move up Skytrax ranking. Pls email: [email protected]

About the research

WilsonHCG’s 2023 Fortune 100 Employment Branding Report analyzes the employment brands of the Fortune 100 from the perspective of a jobseeker. Back in 2014, WilsonHCG built the methodology to objectively evaluate employment brands – something that had never been done before. Since then, we’ve evolved the criteria to pace with the changing job market and candidate expectations. This year marks the ninth report we’ve produced. WilsonHCG’s employment brand research focuses on six key components: recruitment marketing, job advertising and promotion, career pages, employee and candidate perspectives, accolades and corporate social responsibility. The report further breaks down these components into essential benchmarks, which our team of researchers use to determine a score and subsequent ranking. Learn more here about our research findings, and visit our rankings page to see which companies topped the list.
