It now comes with an updated interior, and exterior design, and also comes with a longer list of features and driver assistance systems.

Hyundai has fitted the Palisade with an Atkinson-cycle 3.8-liter, dual CVVT, direct-injected engine that makes 291 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and about 262 pound-feet of torque at 5,200 rpm. The SUV gets front-wheel drive as standard, however, it can be had in a four-wheel-drive configuration as well. All this power and torque are sent to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

The Hyundai Palisade has been unveiled with an updated design and the highlight of the new look is at the front. Now in line with the latest design language followed by every new Hyundai SUV, the Palisade has also received the wider cascading grille which has a healthy splash of chrome and spreads out at the top giving it a winged look. This, coupled with the vertically-oriented LED signature, gives the Palisade a sharp look. It gets 20-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels with an updated design, on the sides. At the back, while the changes are minimal, updated skid plates and square-shaped exhaust tips complete the updated look.

On the inside, the Palisade gets a new steering wheel and the AC vent styling looks like they run through the width of the dash. The instrument cluster is the all-digital type. Hyundai has repositioned the audio controls as well. While these changes are minor, it makes the SUV look sharper and more spacious than before.

While Hyundai has given some nice features on the Palisade like USB-C ports for all three rows, massage function for the driver seat, electronically adjustable headrests for the second row, a faster 15-watt wireless charger, 12.0-inch infotainment system, and WiFi hotspot support, it is also fitted with a suite of Advanced Driver-Assist Systems.

It features Safe Exit Assist, High Beam Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist. How's that for bragging rights!

In addition, the 2023 Hyundai Palisade comes with nine airbags as standard: dual front, driver's knee, dual side-front and rear, and roll-over-sensing side-curtain airbags. Those seated in the third row are also protected through a full-length side curtain airbag.

We particularly like is the Automatic Collision Notification (ACN). In case of a crash or emergency, a signal is automatically sent to Hyundai's Bluelink Customer Care Center. This gets activated in case of an accident and when an airbag has deployed. Once the signal reaches the Bluelink Customer Care Center, Hyundai says that a trained operator can have a voice chat with the car's occupants, dispatch appropriate services, and will even stay on the line until help has arrived.

This service is part of Hyundai's latest version of its Bluelink connected car services. New additions include the ability to remotely set seat ventilation and heating functions along with the individual driver settings for seating position, and a maintenance alert that informs the user when the vehicle requires service. The Palisade will now inform the owners if the doors or windows of the car are left open.

Did Someone Call For Palisade's Tougher Cousin?

If you did, what you would get is the Hyundai Palisade XRT model which gets design updates meant to make it look darker and more rugged, similar to the Santa Fe and Tucson XRT models. On the Palisade XRT, the 20-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and the front grille get a dark finish and so does the leatherette on the seats. A powered sunroof is included in the model, along with a more rugged-looking front and rear bumper with different skid plates.

This adds a more rugged flavor to the updated design, which largely works towards giving the Palisade a bold yet premium look as compared to the outgoing model. The more choices, the better!

Lastly, the 2023 Palisade also debuts a new Robust Emerald color option which will be available along with Abyss Black, Hyper White, Steel Graphite, Sierra Burgundy, Typhoon Silver, and Moonlight Cloud. The interior upholstery options include cloth, leather, leatherette, and premium Nappa leather.

The Hyundai Palisade receives a rather comprehensive update for the 2023 model year. The updates make it an option to consider when the new SUV hits the road this summer.
