  • Hello chris wong, and Welcome to the Forum!

    1.Books aren't my thing.

    2.Books aren't my things.
    3.Reading books isn't my thing.

Be assured that this is quite an informal expression, and one that borders on slang.

Please be sure to use capitals where appropriate, chris wong.

Hullo. My impression is that 1. and 3. are ok. while 2. perplexes me (more than) a little.

    3. Reading books aren't my thing. (I think that's right.) Watching sports aren't my thing. Watching TV isn't my thing.

I'd treat both "reading books" and "watching sports" as an activity (singular).

    "Watching sports isn't my thing."

    3. Reading books aren't my thing.

    Watching sports aren't my thing.

    Watching TV isn't my thing.

The verb matches its subject, which is "reading" or "watching".

Reading books isn't my thing. Reading is fun.

Watching sports isn't my thing. Watching is fun.
