Laptop with best battery life reddit

What would be the best battery life gaming laptop on the market? I love a good gaming laptop but for the love of me I can't find one with a battery life of more than 6 hours and I don't want to bring around a power bank, especially with the amount of proprietary chargers these days

I was eyeing the X1C/x1 yoga and after some reviews on here of bad battery life, I've reconsidered. Battery life is important to me (frankly more than weight) and I'd like to know what laptop has the best battery life on the market, currently.

What brand or brands under Linux have the best battery life for laptops?

Good day y'all,

I'm planning on getting a laptop just for light office use (MS Word, web browsing, etc,...), which lineup and spec would provide the best battery life between XPS 13, 15, 17.

Thank you for your time.

I see a lot of Linux laptop posts here, so I hope I'm not adding to the torrent.

I have a Lenovo x250 and it serving me well for my mobile needs and I don't actually need much more. Specs are: 2C4T i5-5200U, 16GB RAM, Samsung 860 500GB SSD, USB 3.0, 12.5" display. Good and solid, but aging.

I like the small screen and still usable keyboard, I like the battery life when the batteries are in good condition, I like the fact I could get it up to 16GB easily. I also like the ports, there isn't much I'd want other than maybe USB-C for power and a dock.

But I'm at the point where the batteries are getting tired, I can spend about AU$100 on a pair of new batteries, and probably go on the hunt for another couple x250's as spares for the next few years; or get something else.

I don't mind spending a few dollars, but I've always been wary to buy something older as Linux support tends to be more of a know quantity. What I end up with will end up going camping so can't have anything delicate and can't have it freak out because of humidity.

Hello all,I’m currently leaning towards the zephyrus g15 or m16 since as I have seen, they have a pretty good battery life. I was wondering, what other similar options are out there?I’m not looking to game on battery ofcourse, I just need a laptop that can last me on study sessions or work outside of home(browsing, office, autoCAD). Looking for something with ryzen or intel 7,9 and at least an rtx3070. Preferably an msi or lenovo if not an asus but I’m open to all the suggestions!! Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I’m looking for a long battery life laptop for work. I googled and got some suggestions and the one I found in my price range (less than 1000$) was the Lenovo C740. It has a ~10 hour battery life and a 512gb SSD for 850$

I want a laptop that has more than a 10 hour battery life and at least a 512gb SSD. It’s gonna be used mostly for work (sometimes 24 hour shifts) and the occasional movie / youtube watching. If you have other suggestions I would appreciate it.

Battery life 10 hours at least

How important is weight and thinness to you?

Not important

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.

13 to 15 inches

None

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?

None

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?

HDMI port but I’m fine with dongles

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.

SSD is a must too

I am thinking of upgrading my laptop, partly because its battery life is pretty poor (~4 hours of normal productivity use).

Can anyone recommend me 13" or 14" laptops that could supply 8+ hours of productivity use (i.e., web browsing of around five tabs + one or two MS office applications)?

I don't do video/photo editing at all. I don't run middle- or high-end games either so a graphics card is really not that important.

Windows Hello, optical drives, SD card slots, etc. isn't necessary either, though I'd like to have at least two Thunderbolt ports.

My only other requirement that it must have a good build quality, for instance, having little screen/chassis flex; preferably passing durability tests like MIL-STD but that is optional. High thermal temperatures are acceptable as long as they won't impact the battery life.

Assuming unlimited budget. Not taking used or refurbs.

EDIT not open to MacBooks. Couldn't get used to the OS.

I have an X1 Carbon Gen6 and maybe get 5 hours using word, excel, edge, wifi, and live connect at half brightness. I can get 6 and a half with a Latitude 7400 I have been playing with. I'd be willing to even go a pound or two heavier if I can just hit that illusive 8 hour mark. I'm moving around so much, I have resorted to a car charger between stops, which I often forget to plug in...

What are your field techs using? I'm about ready to keep a second laptop on me at all times.

Found one: Latitude 7400 2 in 1 has the same specs as a normal 7400 but has the option of a 78WH battery! This will be my next try.
