Red checkmarks can indicate that a step was disable. This is usually caused by accident when the checkmarks are clicked.

To fix red checkmarks, expand the action and look for steps without a checkmark. Click on the empty checkboxes until no red checkmarks are visible. Alternatively, you can remove the entire set of Photoshop actions and load them again.

“The command “If” is not currently available.”

This error occurs when you’re using an older version of Photoshop CS6. Please update to a newer version of Photoshop that meets the product’s minimum requirements.

“The command “Select” is not currently available”

This error usually occurs when the Photoshop brushes are not loaded. Some Photoshop action products contain an ABR that must be loaded.

To load Brushes into Photoshop, locate the Brushes panel (Window > Brushes). Click on the panel menu (top-right of the panel) and select “Import Brushes“. Browse for the ABR file then click OK.

“Smart filters stacked on top of this filter will not preview…”

In Photoshop version 25.5 and newer, a warning message may pop up stating that smart filters stacked on top of this filter will not preview. This warning is not an error and is irrelevant when using Photoshop actions. You can skip past this by checking the “Don’t show again” option then clicking OK.

It’s safe to ignore this message. Just select the “Don’t show again” option and proceed by clicking OK.

Random patterns are appearing (ex. leaves or water bubbles)

The product you are using contains a PAT file that needs to be loaded into Photoshop. To load patterns into Photoshop, locate the Patterns panel (Window > Patterns). Click on the panel menu (top-right of the panel) and select “Import Patterns“. Browse for the PAT file then click OK.

If you see this window, it usually indicates that the PAT file has not been loaded.

Note: On older versions of Photoshop, you can load patterns by going to Edit > Presets > Preset Manager. From the Preset Type dropdown menu, select Patterns. Click on the Load button and browse for the PAT file.

I am having a problem with batch processing my images. I have run plenty of batch process in the past so I know it works. As a matter of fact, I ran about 200 photos through some batch processing this morning. I was about to run the same batch action against another directory and now I get the following error:

"The object "current document" is not currently available.

It seems that Photoshop is not opening the files in the directory I pointed to and therefore can't run the action. If I manually open a file, the action runs fine. I have tried to run the batch against different directories with different actions, closed and open Photoshop and rebooted the computer, but it still doesn't work. This is very strange since it worked just a few minutes earlier.

Any ideas?

Re: Photoshop batch problem

Never mind I figured it out. I must have clicked on the "Override Open command", or something like that in the Batch options. Doh!!!

Out of curiosity did you have an Open command in the action?

Reason I ask: I'm trying to reproduce your error so I can add the error message, symptom(s) and solution to my action Q/A file.

TIA... Danny

No I did not have an open command in the action. In the batch settings I told it to apply the action against a folder. Hope that explians it.
