News Tokyo 2020 and the ILO agree unique partnership to promote Decent Work12 May 2017 The Organizing Committee and the UN Agency for the world of work will sign an agreement to promote socially responsible labour practices among the delivery partners of the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Socially responsible labour practices will be promoted in all delivery partners of the Games, taking guidance from the ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles covering multinational enterprises and social policy and will include technical seminars and symposiums on CSR practices. Chlid Labour Platform Meeting Tackling child labour in supply chains17-18 October 2016, ILO Headquarters, Geneva, Switzerland ILO Governing Body decides on modalities to review the Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social PolicyAt its 326th session in March 2016, the ILO Governing Body decided to establish a tripartite ad hoc working group of eight members representing Governments, four members representing Workers and four members representing Employers that will meet twice before March 2017 to review the text of the MNE Declaration including its annex and addenda and the interpretation procedure. The recommendations of the working group, arrived at through consensus, will be presented for possible adoption at the 329th Session (March 2017) of the Governing Body. ILO Policy Brief Inclusive business practices in Africa's extractive industries8 February 2016 The policy note presents key factors contributing to inclusive growth linked to the extractive industries in Africa, reflecting on the distinctive yet complementary roles of governments and multinational enterprises. The document considers the types of economic linkages to local communities and national economies that contribute towards employment, enterprise development, infrastructure, and ultimately to the economic transformation required for sustainable development. The factors are explained with reference to lessons learned from African countries at various stages of development of their mining, oil and gas sectors. Child Labour Platform Meeting Tackling child labour in supply chains14-15 December 2015, ILO Headquaters, Geneva, Switzerland The December meeting of the CLP will include a panel discussion on the role of investors in eliminating child labour in supply chains, both from the perspective of companies and investors themselves. The meeting will also provide an opportunity for discussion on key themes, including remediation, impact assessment and the role of multi-stakeholder initiatives and due diligence.
