3ce glow skin cushion pink review

Hello my lovely peonies!! I’m back today again with another review from my favourite makeup brand, 3CE!!

A few months back, 3CE released several makeup bases in their “Back to baby” series. There are lavender, blue, mint, yellow colour correcting makeup bases, a velvet pore primer, a daily moisturizer and two glow beams, one in pink and one in white.

I picked up the one in pink because pink bases brightens your complexion. Prior to this, I was using the VDL’s lumilayer primer. I loved the bluish tone of it BUT THE GLITTERS IN IT WAS SO LARGE, I HAD GLITTERS ALL OVER MY FACE, EVEN THROUGH MY FOUNDATION. I hated that look so much. Hence, i was looking for another illuminating primer and I chanced upon this at Sephora.

Without further ado, let’s get started with the review!

  1. Packaging

It comes in a firm aluminium squeeze tube and it has a very simplistic design as always.

As you can see, it instantly brightens up my complexion. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. The glitters in this product are very tiny, which is great because it will not make your face look like a disco ball. What this product does is it makes your skin have an “oily” but healthy glow and it’s so pretty. Since it does have a little bit of glitter, my face looks brighter, glowy and it gave my face some dimensions just by applying this on. It highlights the high points of my face in a very natural “my skin” way. You can see how this gives me an oily hydrated type of skin texture.

4. Texture

This primer is very thick. VERY thick. It does not run or drip down and it stays the way it is. Hence, one downside is that because of its thick texture, you need more time to blend it into your face and work it in. Also, a little goes A LONG WAY. Take only a little amount per time and work it in. You can add more to the high points of your face if that is what you prefer. I tried using my hands and a beauty sponge to blend this in, and I found that using my hands help to warm the product up, making it slightly easier to blend it in. Since it is also very thick, I have to wait a few minutes to let it settle in before applying my foundation. (Which some of us might not have the luxury to wait before rushing out of the house.)

5. Scent

While blending it into my skin, I noticed that there is a baby powder scent. Maybe it is in the “Back to baby” series or something, but there is the baby powder scent. It is not super strong or anything, it is just strong enough to be noticed. Thankfully, the smell will subside after a while.

6. Layering foundation on top of it

I use the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay In Place Makeup Foundation on a daily basis and I tried pairing it up with this primer. Now if you don’t know, Estee Lauder Double Wear is one of the very matte foundations in the market. It dries down to a FULL matte, not demi matte. When paired with this glow beam, I was pleasantly surprised. Even if the foundation dried, the beam was still visible! Not very obvious, but you can see there it is there. It made my complexion so healthy and not flat matte. AMAZING.

7. Pros

  • Instantly brightens your complexion
  • Gives the illusion that your face is well hydrated and glowy
  • A little goes a long way, hence this tube will last you for a very long time
  • Does not have large glitter particles
  • Blends pretty well, it does not disturb the skincare and sunscreen I applied prior to this

8. Cons

  • Too thick for my personal liking
  • Because it is thick, it feels heavy
  • Since I have oily skin, when my oil mixes with this primer, it somehow makes my foundation separate a little.
  • Requires more time to blend it in
  • Requires some time to settle in before applying your foundation

9. Conclusion

Overall, I find this primer good! It does illuminate my face without making me looking like a disco ball. However, I do not find it hydrating like they claimed. It just felt heavy on my skin with no moisturising benefits. People with dry or normal skin would definitely like this better. Oily skin people like me, will not like it as much. If you are considering to purchase this, I would say get it because the way it made my skin look wins the cons of this product!
