Hello everyone,

I recently upgraded to a new system, and the Realtek audio drivers don't work properly.

The manufacturer has some weird UWP/DCH drivers that don't work. I tried the latest non-DCH drivers from Realtek, and they work, but the surround L and R speakers for my 5.1 system don't work (the system “thinks” these are the rear L/R speakers in a 7.1 system). I think it could be changed from the Realtek Control Panel, but it doesn't even open.

So, I found the generic High Definition Audio Device driver works quite well (it properly recognises my speakers). However, I do not know if I am really missing something useful (I don't use any equaliser or Dolby mumbo-jumbo).

I would really appreciate your help (:

Do I need Realtek audio driver Reddit

Hello fellas. I've just reset my Windows and apparently, Windows didn't download Realtek Audio drivers, at least I couldn't see it. Should I consider downloading them manually? I'm not experiencing any problems right now. Music plays fine, everything seems cool. I want a clean build so I don't want to download unnecessary things. Might use some help. Cheers.

The way that the mixer introduces noise is when it is making the sound you’re trying to listen to quieter because the volume sliders aren’t all at 100% causing you to turn your amplifier up. The noise is actually coming from your amp and by turning up the gain you make the amplifier’s noise floor louder. Also some people feel that when you turn the volume down you lose effective bit depth which I suppose might be a concern edge cases if your bus is running at 16bits but not at 24bit.

ASIO and WASAPI exist for pro audio in order to guarantee that a piece of software that needs access to a sound interface never has to share it with something that shouldn’t have access like, say, a system notification bell which could ruin a mix. They also minimize latency so you can do things like record from one channel, process it, play it back on another channel through some analog toys, record from a third interface, and play everything back for the monitors without making the artist feel like they’re hearing an echo.

PS: If your drivers are sane then the master bus of the software mixer is actually controlling the gain of the analog circuitry in your sound card.

I initially bought the e10k because my on board sound wasn't loud enough straight from my mobo's audio port.

in terms of an actual difference in sound, there probably isn't any difference tbh. i do however enjoy the convenience of being able to plug earphones and shorter audio cables straight into the dac which I have under my monitor. my desktop is pretty far from where I sit so this is an added convenience for me

can't really justfiy this based on your budget, but if you want it and can afford it then go for it, worst case you'll always have a dac to build your future upgrades on.

edit: I use sph9500 as my main cans

Pretty simple question, I figure plenty of people here will know the answer. Currently I have a problem with my computer where when I run it on default "High Definition Audio Device" drivers I can use headphones, but when I download and use the Realtek High Definition Audio drivers, I can no longer use headphones. Stupid, I know, but I've been trying to fix it for a week with no success. If the audio driver only makes a difference for the computer speakers I'll just run the defaults, because I will be using my new headphones almost exclusively anyways. But if it makes a difference for headphones too, I'll keep looking for a solution.

Thanks
