 Show Upgrading to macOS 10.14 MojaveThe following steps will walk you through upgrading your Mac’s operating system to the latest version, 10.14 Mojave. It is recommended that you back up your Mac before upgrading. Backing up your Mac will come in hand just in case some of your software is not yet compatible with the new operating system. Once you’ve made a backup of your Mac and are ready, follow the steps below to download and install macOS 10.14 Mojave. 1. Verify Compatibility for MojaveIn order to upgrade your Mac operating system (macOS), you must have a compatible Mac computer. The following Macs are compatible and can upgrade to macOS Mojave. While the Mac and all Apple software may be compatible, 3rd party software like DAW’s and Virtual Instruments may not. 2. Download macOS 10.14 MojaveInstalling Mojave is a two-part process. You first need to download it from the App Store. It may take a few minutes depending on your connection speed. Once downloaded, the installer will start automatically, but we’ll cover the installation in the next section. Follow these steps to download macOS 10.14 Mojave. 1. Launch the App Store application. 2. Find macOS Mojave either from the Featured tab(⌘ + 1) or by visiting Apple’s Mojave download page. 3. Click the Download button to start downloading the Mojave installer file. 3. Install macOS 10.14 MojaveOnce the download completes, the installer will start automatically. All you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. If you want to install macOS Mojave on another hard drive or create a backup Mojave install drive, you will need to move the downloaded file to the drive first. Installing the Mojave file to external drives is done with macOS Recovery (below). 1. Once the download completes, follow the on-screen instructions to install Mojave. 2. When prompted, your internal hard drive will be selected as the install disk. If you want to install Mojave to another external drive, select that hard drive. 3. Wait for the installation to complete, it may take a short while. Once complete your Mac will restart. Install from the Applications FolderIf you would like to wait and install Mojave at another time, the downloaded Install macOS Mojave app is found in your Applications folder.
