Nike air huarache high top black and white năm 2024

When the Nike Huarache first hit the market in 1991, it was accompanied by an ad that asked, “Have you hugged your foot today?”

Try one on and you’ll know why. Created by legendary Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, the shoe utilizes unconventional materials like neoprene to create a more comfortable experience. The Huarache, inspired by waterskiing booties, incorporates a minimalist design, neoprene and spandex sock-like upper, and an exoskeleton of leather and plastic supports. The result: a shoe that hugs your foot.

The Nike Huarache (whose name is derived from a type of leather sandal from Mexico) is another masterpiece conceived by the mind of Tinker Hatfield, a legendary designer from the Swoosh brand’s history. Introduced in 1991, the silhouette did away with the unnecessary aspects that had become all too common with sneakers of the time, such as over-the-top branding, and instead included only elements that would enhance its performance for running. The concept was inspired by Hatfield’s love of water skiing, with the use of the lightweight material neoprene being directly taken from the bootie of a slalom water ski. Though there was some initial scepticism, particularly around the lack of the brand’s synonymous swoosh, the Nike Huarache gained approval when used by 5,000 runners in the New York City Marathon. The close-fitting shoe hugged the foot, providing an unheard-of level of comfort and support. During the ’90s, the trainers received further positive reinforcements thanks to celebrities like Will Smith and Jerry Seinfeld, who wore them in television sitcoms The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Seinfeld, respectively.

Landing around 270 grams but not sacrificing any of its functional benefits, the Huarache is a shoe whose perks have mass appeal. It’s no surprise, then, that it was adopted by the basketball court, with the evolved Air Flight Huarache being worn by the University of Michigan’s ‘Fab Five,’ which included the likes of Chris Webber and Jalen Rose.

Nike Huarache Ultra

The focus on being lightweight has always been a prominent—and much appreciated—attribute of the Nike Huarache, but that hasn’t stopped the brand from trying to dream bigger, or rather lighter. In comes the Huarache Ultra, a new version of the classic sneaker that reworks the original upper, opting for leather, synthetics, and mesh for balanced performance and protection.

Built to fit your foot and designed for comfort, the Nike Air Huarache brings back a street-level favorite. Soft leather accents on the upper mix with super-breathable, perfectly shined neoprene-like fabric for easy styling. The low-cut collar and bootie-like construction keep it sleek. Its iconic heel clip and stripped away branding keep the early '90s look you love.

Why did Nike stop making huaraches?

For a while they sat on shelves and Nike eventually halted production on the model and shifted budget elsewhere. The silhouette had actually garnered a new and slightly-bad reputation according to many, with the legendary status tarnished by how mainstream they had become.

Do people still wear Nike Air Huarache?

Yes, they are definitely still in fashion and are unlikely to disappear any time soon. The Nike Huarache is one of the most popular silhouettes and is very comfortable. I own a pair of Nike Air Huarache "SNKRS Day" and I never want to give them up.

Both men's huarache sandals and women's huarache sandals became very popular in the 1960s in the United States among hippies and then grew in popularity from there. Leather huarache sandals are very common now because they are comfortable and look good with almost any outfit.

Are Nike huaraches good for your feet?

Huaraches have grown in popularity over the past few years and are now the running or hiking shoe of choice for many. Using Correct Toes and huaraches is a powerful way to restore natural foot health and treat or prevent common foot and toe ailments.
