from dictionary I can see the phrase "sth isn't your/my/etc. thing", which means it isn't something that you really enjoy or are interested in
I wonder which of the following sentences is/are correct and if there are different meanings. 1.Books aren't my thing.
2.Books aren't my things.
3.Reading books isn't my thing.
thank you
Hello chris wong, and Welcome to the Forum!
1.Books aren't my thing.
Be assured that this is quite an informal expression, and one that borders on slang.
Please be sure to use capitals where appropriate, chris wong.
Hullo. My impression is that 1. and 3. are ok. while 2. perplexes me (more than) a little.

I'd treat both "reading books" and "watching sports" as an activity (singular).
"Watching sports isn't my thing."
3. Reading books aren't my thing.
Watching sports aren't my thing. Reading books isn't my thing. Reading is fun. Watching sports isn't my thing. Watching is fun. (cross-posted) fishing is my thing that is my favorite thing is the best thing is the last thing is the right thing is the worst thing |
