After months of being tight-lipped, executives of Comcast, which owns NBCUniversal, made the announcement during a question-and-answer part of their earnings call. They initially refused to offer details about the new park when it was first announced last August, citing the competitive nature of the Orlando theme park industry. But on Thursday, they let Mario out of the bag. The new theme park, slated for a 2023 opening, is part of a larger expansion at Universal Orlando that will double the size of the resort. The new park will be located on a 750-acre (304-hectare) site a few miles from the current Universal Orlando property, which is home to the Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure parks, as well as the Volcano Bay water park. Then in June of 2021 Universal introduced the newest ride the VelociCoaster at Islands of Adventure theme park. And what we find to be the coolest is that both of these new Universal Orlando attractions are included when Islands of Adventure is open for early park admission! We also think one of the coolest things about the new rides at Universal is they are included with Universal Early Park Admission when Islands of Adventure is the park open for that extra hour! We simply love early admission at The Park Prodigy as guests can enjoy two of the newest attractions with very little wait. Over the years, Universal has been renovating older areas and replacing them with more modern content. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any new Universal Studios Orlando rides since Diagon Alley opened in 2014. The Bourne Stuntacular show opened up in 2020, but has has mixed reviews from Universal guests. With no announcement being made for Shrek-4D being replaced by a brand new 2023 Universal ride, we can only speculate as to what is going to come. Whether it be a brand new Shrek ride, or a Secret Life of Pets dark ride, like Universal Hollywood, we will have to wait and see. Super Nintendo World Universal Orlando – New at Universal OrlandoThe only land that has been confirmed so far in Epic Universe is Super Nintendo World. With the 2021 release in Universal Studios Japan, guests received a preview of what is to come in both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Hollywood.
