2022 Ford Explorer SUVs include a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 300 horsepower. The higher-end trims include a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 400 horsepower instead. Plus, there's a hybrid configuration that combines a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor and it's rated for 318 horsepower. A ten-speed automatic transmission is included with all three engines, plus there's the option of rear- or all-wheel-drive. These same configurations are expected with the 2023 Ford Explorer.
